Health Psychology focuses on the psychological processes (e.g., sensation, perception, learning, memory, thinking, motivation and emotion) associated with health, illness, disability and healthcare. During these sessions, you and your Health Psychology Practitioner will focus on your own psychological processes and, together, will design the right intervention for you. Depending on your personal needs, this can can be targetted towards understanding and / or adjusting to your condition, honing the necessary coping and management skills, increasing your level of motivation, improving your relationship with yourself and with those who care about you, and much more. It can incorporate elements of Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Mindfulness Meditation (MM) and / or Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT).
